It’s ready, set and go for the 11th Knysna Literary Festival

There’s excitement in the air this week as Festival organisers are busy with the final preparations for the 11h Knysna Literary Festival that kicks off on the 6th March 2020!

The Festival has grown to be one of the top five noteworthy Garden Route Arts Festivals to attend, and the only festival that hosts exclusive groups of hand selected authors.

Festival founder Ling Dobson and owner of event sponsor Pam Golding Properties Knysna, Gordon Shutte, said they are excited. “We have always been promoting South Africa’s rich and diverse literary and artistic talent. The programme is thought provoking and exciting and aims to indulge literary senses while engaging with some of South Africa’s best authors.  It is also our 11th year and we look forward to celebrating the weekend with you”

Tickets are available, online with Webtickets and Pam Golding Properties Knysna, but you will have to act fast!

Ticket sales open for 11year old Knysna Literary Festival

The 11TH Knysna Literary Festival boasts an exciting programme that not only includes some old favourites but is also spiced up with great new additions.

Taking place from 6th – 8th March 2020, ticket sales opened on the 4th of February at the Knysna Pam Golding Properties offices on Thesen Island. As demand for ticket sales grew over the last few years, the first day is synonymous with long queues and festival founder Ling Dobson said bubbly will be served, and well-known local musician, Lani Groves, will entertain everyone while they wait.

Dobson said festival flagship event, the Delicious Word Journey, is taking place on the newly upgraded Paddle Cruiser to the gorgeous new Featherbed Nature Reserve. Authors taking part in the event are Kim van Kets, Liam Del Carne, Kgosti Chikane. We are also excited to welcome Karen Dudley to join the team at Île de päin for Chef’s Playdate #3.0.

Political affairs will once again be under the spotlight with Catching Tadpoles by Ronnie Kasrils and the ever-popular Fate of the Nation discussion with Adriaan Basson, Pieter du Toit and Qaanitah Hunter.  “Money Matters”  panel discussion hosts Ivo Vegter, Anthea Gardner and Chris Holdsworth.

Other authors on the programme include Dr T with “A Guide to Sexual Health and Pleasure”, Lesego Tlhabi “Coconut Kelz”, Mandla Langa “Dare not Linger”, Peter van Kets “Eighth Summit” and Nechama Brodie with her second novel “Three Bodies”.

Shutte said they are looking forward to another exciting and thought-provoking Festival. “The programme includes something for everyone, and we know will not disappoint!”
