Duncan de Waal has retired to Knysna after a career in business and academia. After matriculating at Hilton College and doing his first degree at Rhodes University, he went into the business world. His career took a different turn after he gained a Master’s degree through UNISA and was persuaded to change to lecturing at the University of Natal.
Living in KwaZulu-Natal gave him and his family easy access to many game reserves. He has always been passionate about the bush and wildlife conservation, but does not claim to be an expert in any way. He is married to Diana and they have two sons and four grandchildren, all of whom enjoy the outdoors. He hopes that Wild African Adventure will be both enjoyable and educational to young readers, and inspire them and their parents to take an interest in environmental issues.
Wild African Adventure is Duncan’s first novel.
