About the Festival
Presented by Pam Golding Properties Knysna, the annual Knysna Literary Festival is a four-day literary “experience,” offering a diverse programme that includes small-group workshops, larger-group presentations, informal chats with authors and the opportunity to experience some of Knysna’s most exclusive private properties.
Aims and objectives of the Festival
- To expose locals and visitors to South Africa’s literary talent
- To stimulate the children of the greater Knysna area by encouraging reading and writing
- To contribute to local schools that focus on childhood development and education
- To provide established authors with a platform to connect directly with their readers and target audience
The Festival programme
The Festival’s diverse programme touches on current affairs, politics, history and adventure. There’s a dash of cuisine, wine tastings and plenty of other treats.
Over the years the Festival has attracted many well-known literary celebrities, and this year is no different. The exciting line-up of authors for 2016 includes a newspaper editor, investigative journalists, political commentators, a celebrity chef, a published poet, an iconic musician, a social media legal expert and a seasoned storyteller.
Don’t miss the opportunity to meet Ferial Haffajee, Matthews Phoza, Songezo Zibi, Emma Sadleir, Finuala Dowling, Nik Rabinowitz, Hugh Masekela and other great South African personalities and authors.
For children there is interactive theatre and a young writers competition to stimulate the love of reading and encourage the art of writing.
